I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's Celebration. I have to say, I did absolutely nothing and it was fabulous. I really didn't want to fight with all of the non-sober people that were out and then have to drive home with a bunch of people on the road that probably should not have been. I definitely felt that home was the safest and best place to be this New Year's.
Well, my New Year's Eve may not have been very eventful but New Year's Day was a different story all together. I got to sleep in until about 9:30am on New Year's Day (I know that doesn't sound late but being pregnant has made me get up at the butt crack of dawn lately). I made breakfast for everyone and just hung out for a bit in the morning. Just FYI....the rest of the story may be TMI for some of you but I am going to share anyway. Sorry if this is too much for any of you :)
Around 10am I went to the bathroom (becuase when you are pregnant that is all you do) and realized that something wasn't right. I realized that my urine was PINK!!! At first I thought maybe I was seeing things but I went back to the bathroom about 15 minutes later to try and pee again and it was the same thing. I was definitely starting to panic because nothing about pink pee is good. So, I am sitting in the bathroom yelling for Nick and telling him I think we need to go to the hospital. I call the hospital and let them know what's going on and they tell me that, "Yes, you need to come in and get checked."
So, get to the hospital and end up going to labor and delivery (if you are over 20 weeks pregnant they will automatically send you up) and start the process of figuring out what the heck is going on. Well, first thing first, I have to strip down and put on the backless hospital gown (that I could not tie mind you). Then I was informed that I will need a catheter becuase they need to take a sample of urine.
Well, I didn't know what to expect because I have never had a catheter before, but let me tell you, not a very pleasant experience. I'm not going to go into details but not looking forward to ever having that done again. So the nurse gets some of my urine and looks at it and say, "Yep, it's definitely pink." She is thinking I may have a UTI or possible bladder infection. Not entirely sure though.
I am then hooked up the the fetal monitors so they can check on Brandon and luckily he is all good. Heartbeat was steady, he was moving around, no issues that they could see. Whew.
I end up getting blood work done also and they have an ultrasound tech come in to check Brandon and my cervix, placenta, etc. to make sure everything is a OK. Well, based on the ultrasound Brandon is now a healthy 2.2 lbs and is developing nicely and didn't seem to be in any distress (which was fabulous becuase I was not planning on having a baby on January 1).
Well, all my blood work comes back and they check my urine and they say everything looks good. No infection, no nothing. They still cannot explain why my urine was pink so they are running some cultures which take 48 hrs to get the results back. I was happy to be able to go home with some piece of mind that me and baby were OK and nothing serious was really going on (at least that is what I am thinking since everything is back to normal now in the urine department).
So, tomorrow I have my glucose test which should be fun (NOT) and Nick and I's 4 year anniversary is on Friday (Super Excited about that).
