How your baby's growing:
Your baby is now considered "full term," even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you're planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there's a medical reason to intervene earlier.)
Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alike's. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.
Stats:
How far along: 37 weeks
Maternity Clothes: Even some of my maternity clothes are not covering my growing belly anymore. My pants are still fine but there are a growing number of shirts I can no longer wear outside of my house.
Food Cravings: I honestly just want to eat anything that I see.
Food aversions: Nope.
Symptoms I have: I think that he has dropped over the last few days. I feel like my belly has gotten lower which is attributing to the lack of shirts I can now wear. Every now and then I will get a definite tightening in my stomach but nothing super painful; more just uncomfortable.
Doctor's Appointment: I had an appointment last Wednesday and today. I am swelling pretty bad now and I have to do another pee test (my last one came back fine) to check again to see if I am getting pre-eclampsia. Doctor has told me I need to start taking it easy and to elevate my legs as much as possible and make sure I am laying on my left side. They have also went ahead and scheduled an induction date of March 29; end date is in sight!!! That means only 17 more days to go if I actually make it to that date. A lot of that will depend on my 2nd pee test tomorrow and my blood pressure, which was OK this time around. Next appointment is Tuesday, March 20. We will get another bio-physical to see how big he is. I am guessing he will definitely be over 8 lbs. Probably closer to 8 1/2 by then.
Movement: Lately he will be very active for a day and then the next he takes it easy. Last night he was moving like crazy.
Belly Button: I think I will make it without it popping out! YEAH :)
What Else?: The rest of the baby things will be here by Wednesday. After that it is really just a waiting game to meet Brandon. I am getting really excited to get to the end of this journey and start the next with Brandon here. I can't wait to really get a good look at him; especially since we have never really been able to get a good look at his face since he was always covering it up during all of the ultrasounds.
I do think it is funny that he is only supposed to weigh 6 1/3 lbs right now. He was measuring more than that 2 weeks ago!!! There is a very good possibility that he will be over 9lbs once he gets here.
