I really wanted to try and get ahead of this issue because 1. I don't want Brandon to get recurring ear infections 2. I really don't want him to constantly be on antibiotics and 3. I would prefer to not have to go the tube route unless nothing else works.
A co-worker of mine had the same issue with her son and recommended that I take Brandon to the chiropractor as she did this with her son and his ear infections stopped completely. I figured, what the heck, I will give it a try and if that doesn't work then I can always go back to the pediatrician and we can do the antibiotic route.
Well, we have had 2 appointments this week and so far so good. Brandon has slept better and acted more himself. As with most ear infections, babies usually get colds as well. Luckily, with these minor adjustments (not even sure if that is the correct term to use but it's all I got), the other cold symptoms seem to be going away as well. He is still a little stuffy but not nearly as much as before. We have another appointment this coming up Tuesday (both him and myself) but that may have to be rescheduled due to T.S/Hurricane Issac's scheduled landfall here locally that night.
I know that some people are going to think I am absolutely crazy for taking my almost 5 month old to a chiropractor but what would you do? Wouldn't you try all alternatives before constantly giving your child antibiotics over and over again? Wouldn't you want to try everything possible to keep your child from having surgery at a young age? I understand that this may not be a conventional treatment plan, but right now it is working and that is all that matters to me.
This picture was taken after our first visit. I would say that he is pretty comfortable and sleeping soundly. |
I know several people that have taken their children routinely since a month old (or sooner)...don't worry about what other people think!
ReplyDeleteI try not to but it's so interesting to see people's expressions after you tell them you take your infant to a chiropractor. They look at you like you are looney.
DeleteYour son is absolutely gorgeous and adorable and I don't blame you for being jittery in this situation. As a mom, I don't want my son to be in antibiotics most of the time, too. Now that we know that chiropractors can help heal ear infections, we'll now have more options on where we can go when we face similar situation as this in the future.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am so glad to know that other people feel the same as I do about antibiotics. I mean, I am all for them when it is absolutely necessary but if there is ANYTHING that I can do to prevent pumping my son full of antibiotics then I am going to give that a try first.
