When I grow up I want to be?????
I think the answer to this question changed repeatedly as a child. I wanted to be everything from an actress, singer, teacher, doctor, lawyer, president, veterinarian. I really dreamed about it all. The one that I always remember wanting the most though was to be a veterinarian. I loved animals, big and small, as a child. I was always "rescuing" animals from their natural habitat to take home and make my own. (My mom kept making me take them back, womp womp). I cared for everything...dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, fish, turtles, chinchillas, tarantulas. You name it, I probably had it (except for snakes, I am terrified of snakes). I just always thought that I would grow up and take care of all of the critters on the Earth. Then I found out that vet's have to put animals to sleep and I realized early on that I could never do that and not feel something terrible inside. So, there went that dream. (And let's be real, there is no way I could have stayed in college long enough to get a veterinarian degree. Four years was long enough for me).
What do I do now? Well, sell real estate of course. Not something that ever even crossed my mind as a child. Didn't even know that this was a profession until I was in high school. I love it though. Been doing it for about 5 years now. Not sure if there is a better feeling than helping a first time home buyer realize their dream of owning a home and helping them get there.
That's so cool you help people find their homes. That has to be an incredible feeling.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be a real estate agent, except I'm terrified of the non-stability of commission and the bad working hours. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you're helping people find their dream homes. Isn't it funny how our dreams as children are so different from real life
